Ok the shopkeeper below me has just had broadband installed and it using a wireless router.

He has asked me to try and access his connection as he can find mine but I have security set up and isn't sure if his is or not.

So I am connected to a wireless router via an ethernet cable(wireless for PS3)

is there anyway of doing this?

Open Network and Sharing Center. Change Adaptor Settings - right click your wireless adaptor - click Connect / Disconnect. You should see all networks that are broadcasting their SSID.

Or do what malman said.

if it showed all the networks and in the security column it said something other than none then his wireless is secured and you can't just breeze in without a network key. if it said wep then I would suggest he figures out how to change it to wpa.

If it said none then all you have to do to get on his network is goto control panel network and sharing centre then connect to a network (close inssider first).

if you have some third party wireless manager (belkin or some such) then you might find windows can't see the networks but you will have an icon down by the clock which leads to the third party wireless manager which will allow you to connect to a network and have a scan for networks type interface.. Each one is slightly different so you will just need to poke around a bit
