how do i send a file accross a network ?

i want to send a 700mb file from this laptop to the gaming pc, they are both connected to the same netgear switch via cat5, which is connected to a netgear router by cat5, yet i only get 30kb/s when sending it via msn.

both are on xp the pc is on pro but the laptop is on home.

any ideas please ?

Enable file and printer sharing in control panel, on both computers, and then you should be able to browse to the other computer's shared folders through the networking pages.

All you need to do then is drop your files into that computer's shared folders.

It shouldn't matter that one is XP Professional and one is XP Home.

ok view workgroup computers doenst work, both are setup on the same work group, both computers only see themselves and not the others :rolleyes:

any ideas ?

ok i rebooted it works now but when you click on the laptop one on the pc, the pc's browser crashes........... argh
