i got something i want to sell on an auction site but not sure how i'd go about sending it as im a right noob in this area.

Looking online most are coming in thick carboard and are being sent through what i think is called a carrier and costing £35.

The item has no box atm so i'd need to get one but where from? also for a carrier do i just contact them or something and they come pick it up or something? or is the only option thorugh royal mail?

i will offer pick up but if someone doesn't do that then obviously im screwed.

thanks

What's the item?

Normally a simple answer would be Royal Mail Standard Parcels, but they're in my bad books at the moment as they've spent a week and counting getting a PC from Greater Manchester to Kent... It could be claim time.

I use Parcelforce on the net, you can book a collection online and the van driver picks it up from your house, its about 14quid for 48hour delivery.

Edit- Whats the item??? sometimes you can get boxs from the supermarket, or post office do certain types of packaging.

but what about packagin as i currently have none. Do they do that bit for me or do i need to go get it, if so where from?

ok :)

Firstly YOU need to get the parcel ready, that means find a box (supermarket best place) with some buble wrap or something pack it so it doesent get damaged in transit, wright where its going nice and clear on the front, your address on reverse (incase it doesent get there)

Can you not pick one up from work/school/uni/whereever? Any cardboard box will do. You could even tape 2 together. Sometimes these large storage companies sell packaging materials to assist in house moves. The post office does sell boxes, but these are quite small. The package must be ready for pickup with destination clearly marked. If you re-use a cardboard box, make sure your destination is the only one on there. You must have some boxes from something you have ordered in the loft, or somewhere similar.

No courier will pack your parcel for you.

Go to a mini market or a garage and ask for a crisp box or something. Really, finding a box is not rocket science.

http://www.interparcel.com/ use DHL and TNT and seem to have relatively good customer service, I speak to them quite often through work and they're always pretty amiable.

if it's just soaked, carefully move it some where dry and dry it out, it should be fine.

Otherwise supermarket get some boxes for nothing and tape them together. Or find a house removal shop and buy a large box.

finding a box isn't rocket sciene no, but one big enough to contain the item is. A crisp box is tiny in comparision and it the shape of a cube, i need one thats the shape of a dance mat.

What depth is the box? Just wrap it in bubble wrap then tape cardboard right round it and cut bits to fit. Just to cover it so it is barriered from scrapes and bangs.

:/ not rocket science at all! Just common sense!

Do you want your bum wiping for you too? No wonder you couldn't get to grips with learning to drive. ;)
Go to a shop, ask them if they have any big boxes you can have, tape a couple together if needs be. If they don't have any, go to a different shops.

Or try the net

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=packaging+boxes&btnG=Search&meta=cr=countryUK|countryGB

No shortage there. Loads on Ebay too.

Firstly, you are 19 and you want a trampoline? To replace some weird dance thing? I hope you are buying it for a young sibling or something otherwise that is just weird!

Secondly, you want a courier, not a carrier. Citylink, DHL, TNT etc will all be able to take large items such as yours. If you don't know anyone with an account then there are websites that book it on your behalf. I believe you can go to a website such as http://www.parcel2go.com/ for this service.

thanks guys for the help, think i know what i gota do now so hopefully can get it sold.

wow offensive, whats the matter with you? not getting any lately? never said i couldnt get to grips with learning to drive a manual either, just gave up because of bad instructor and didn't like the cost back then. Also the point of that thread was because i couldn't see the point of learning to drive manual if only ever gonig to drive auto and was looking for some advice.

well its for family, i aint using neither alone, got younger brothers sisters so they will be using trampoline with me sometimes but it also for myself. See nothing wrong with a trampoline, never got a chance to use them as a child and now i can afford it so why not.
