i have some files on my pc i want to share with my relatives, i dont want to send them by post on a disc etc so what are my options, my sister is not very savvy with pc's so is it easier to upload them to webspace or is there a more direct way to do it pc to pc ?

many thanks
:D

Microsoft Skydrive is a good suggestion.

You could also send it to her via something like TeamViewer, if you both install it on your PCs.

could jus transfer via msn file transfer, if not sky drive is good. Or something like rapidshare, thats free might be useful too. Dunno how skydrive works, so dont know which is better

at the moment im trying out skydrive, i was not aware that microsoft gave you 25gb with each live account. the only thing is uploads are really slow and then it will take her a while to download it at the other end, the files im sending i have rar'd into 14 rar files no bigger than 50mb as thats the limit on sky drive.

just both login to msn and send through there, its stupidly simple and quicker than uploading with skydrive or any other service. yahoo and skype also have the same feature depending on ones preference. also skype is stupidly easy to install and run if my old man can do it anyone can.

guys thanks for all the suggestions, i tried sky drive, it takes along time to upload and after i tried it out by downloading as a guest from the public folder i ended up not being able to download anymore so im assuming there is a dailly download limit for public, however if i login i can still download my own files. So a couple of negatives for sky drive although its great for online storage its not so great for sharing large files with others.

i tried messenger live and i was amazed to find there is no file size limit and its really easy to use and really fast. i transferred a file to my partners mlaptop in 11min it was 755mb, the same files split into 50mb rars took ages to upload to skydrive so its a big thumbs up for using messenger.

thanks everyone who contributed :)

Try sugersync.. basicly you can add a folder to it and it will upload anything you put in that folder, and auto download on any pcs that you allow. 2gb is free i think and 30gb i think is £5 or something.

Skydrive is a pain in the arse.

Nice idea but takes ages to upload, no indication of uploading process so you never know if you've timed out or anything, 50mb file limit, and if you're uploading loads of photos for example, you can only do five at a time so it takes ages to upload a folder, unless you zip them, and then theres a 50mb limit, so you have to upload multiple zipped files... GRR.

(*has had to use skydrive a lot with uni group work)
