No, the chuck patch is not part of CAT 6.4's. AFAIK, the chuck patch only works with CAT 6.3 and must be installed separately.

I had a lot of issues with the 6.4's, ati tool would not work for example. I'd stick with the 6.3's for now :)

Can't see the image anymore - could someone describe or show it again? My Ati machine at home started doing something odd recently - looks like rather nasty graphical corruption, appears for maybe 2 seconds just before the logon screen.

Happens to me too, i think it is just the graphics card being tested by the drivers, makes no impact once the pc is logged on so i assumed it's not a problem

He's getting a SMARTGART error.

The 2 secs corruption error you're describing is very common, i don't think it's anything to worry about.

For some unfathomable reason the "chuck patch" is not a actually a patch, but a complete set of modifed 6.3 drivers. They seem to work quite happily on their own, in fact mixing with later files could explain some of the issues I've seen around. Why it's not described as "chuck's drivers" is beyond me. Just remember that if you install it over 6.4's to let it replace newer files or it will leave unmodified drivers in place, as chuck's are older. I find the best bet if you plan on overclocking and using oblivion, is to start from a clean system using drivercleaner. Install Chuck+CP+ATITool+WMD, you don't need CCC or .net

Do you need the CCC?

If not, drop it! It's awful!

If you're using XP x32, download the drivers from ATI's website via "Drivers and Software" -> "Windows XP" -> "Windows XP Drivers and Software" -> "FireMV" -> "Current Microsoft certified WHQL Drivers"

Download the "Display Driver, Control Panel" (link, direct link to exe, 22MB)

If you're on XP x64 then it isn't that simple unfortunately as the drivers without the CCC aren't listed under "FireMV"

Instead, download and install 5.11. These are the last drivers without the CCC. When this is installed, download the latest Cats (6.4) with the CCC. Don't uninstall the 5.11 drivers. Install the 6.4 drivers over the top, but ensure that you do not install the CCC (select Advanced install and uncheck it). Bingo, latest drivers, with just as good performance as with the CCC but without the bloaty memory hogging CCC. This is my current setup

I only upgraded from the 5.11 drivers to the 6.4 drivers as for some reason I couldn't select AA for Tomb Raider: Legend and Oblivion with the older drivers (works fine with the later drivers)
