I've got XP and Vista dual boot, I want to get rid of XP, now I know I can simple format the partition with XP, but it dont stop it showing in the bootloader and I have n0 idea how to get rid of it from there.

IIRC -

Go to Start --> Run --> "MSCONFIG".

There will be a boot.ini tab, I beleive you have to remove XP from there, although I do not know exactly what needs editing, you may be able to find something through google. However I think thats the process.

From there all that is in it is Windows Vista

Makes me wonder if the Boot.Ini is coming from a diffo HDD/partition?

Also, you think putting Vista on my SATA hdd will make it run faster compared to it on my IDE drive?

Does it have the same boot.ini contents in Vista and in XP? I don't have much experience of dual booting but maybe one is the "master OS" or something? just a wild guess but check both ^

I have done this before.. and iirc all i done was format the XP partition, then I ran bootrec just to be sure:

1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
2. Press a key when you are prompted.
3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
7. Type Bootrec.exe /rebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.

Although someone is now going to tell me there is an easier way :D

Boot option editing under Vista is in startup/recovery options of the system applet in control panel IIRC.

LOL someone would actually do that aswell!, not me though, I used Easy BCD in the end, worked a treat :).
