how do i use 3G on PAYG?

i am on orange pay as you go on a N95, and sometimes i pay £1 for 24 hours access to the net. But it's not very fast as you expect, i know 3G can do a lot faster than that, is there anyway to use it on pay as you go, while on the £1 24 hours unlimited?

As long as you've got the phone set to dual-mode, or UMTS, then it'll use the 3G connection where available.

Dual. If you select UMTS, it will only pick up 3G signals, and if you aren't in a 3G area, it basically means you'll have no reception. Dual will connect to a 3G network first, and if it can't, it will try for a 2G connection.
