Hey guys just bought a fiesta mk4 (i think) and i got it pretty cheap and the driverside door is buggered lol the key wont open the door and the handle on the inside of the door has like..come unclipped? so that doesnt open it either...how can i get my door open lol do i need someone too come look at it or is there something im not thinking of? cheers

With the door closed it's tricky - can you get access to pop the door card off? You'll need to unscrew the inside door handle and pop off the window winder etc. to get to it. That should let you reconnect the inside lock (they are usually connected with rods that look like bent coathangers)

get yourself a haynes, reattach the door handle by the guidance in there, open door, take door card off, sort the damn thing out :p

this is the mk4 shape, the curvy one, yours like this? i just found my haynes for when i use to have mine, ill ave a gander :)

haynes manual - manual for working on all aspects of your car

right there should be a simple cabling system behind the door handle, sounds like its come unclipped. all i can think off is getting something small and thin into the top of the door card, prise the top open, to get yours hands inside. they'll be a protective grey sheeting inside, prise this back aswell. you'll then see the handle and cabling system behind, something will probably be unclipped, hence why you can't open it either side.

you may be best getting a haynes manual anyway mate, its in halfords, is green in colour and your looking for the fiesta 95-99 one... :)

hmmm it seems as if theres a screw that needs too come off which is on the inside of the door and i cant get too it cos the door wont open...its just underneath where the actual locking mechanism is...suggestions? need this door open :P

sorry mate, went out for the evening earlier.

um yes i remember on mine theres a small plastic circle behind the actual black handle... have a look in there, get a pen knife or something and prise it off as its hiding the screw!

One screw in small recess where you pull the door close, One behind the lever that you open the door but it's hidden by a small blanking plug that needs to be popped off. Last screw behind blanking plug near rear of side pocket. If manual window winders are fitted remove U clip and pull it off.

Once they are out remove plastic surround from the lever that opens the door and up-pop all the poppers down the sides and along bottom of door.

Then door tilts out from the bottom and lifts upwards as there is a lip there the window rubber is.

You will need to disconnect speaker wires ((Mid and tweeter) if fitted) and electric window wires also if fitted.

You should be able to peel back the plastic sheet now to see what the problem is.
