How do pc get so dusty

My pc is supprisngly healthy, it has NO dust in the component tray BUT my Tripple rad requires a blast with the old airline every few months.

The lack of knowledge in this thread astounds me! That dust is actually the remains of little pixies that can't escape the intake of air through your case fans. Thats why filters are so important.

Dust particles are present in air, whether we like it or not. It is difficult to completely protect electronic equipment from it even in a clean house. :( To reduce the total amount of dust in your case, it is essential to get or make air filters to mount in line with your air flow. Regular cleaning routines help further with this issue.

One word ....

Ioniser.

My Antec P182 hardly gets any dust inside it compared to my previous cheapo case. Dust filters help, just clean the filters regularly, and the PC itself will by fine for a good long time.

I clean my filter weekly on the Lian Li - no dust inside, only on the filter.

I like to keep my desktop in tip top condition..

I think that thing is alive! It reminds me of a server rig that was pulled form an industrial workshop I had the pleasure of writing off, but even that example of careless handling fared better.

Was that still running coupe?

I used to think computers built up and held a static charge which attracted dust. I now think this is unlikely.

My previous build got really dusty, mainly because I never got a dust filter with my lian li case! (Was missing from the box). What a pain it was to hoover the pc every so often.

N.B. I must shed skin like a snake I have loads of dust in my room :(

@whitecrook, yes if there's holes/vents in your case. Maintaining a steady, gentle flow of air out through the vents this way helps stop dust coming in. Means less if you've obsessively blocked up all the vents to direct airflow, as then dust can only get in through the intakes anyway.

On topic.

I have some 10 yo Chieftec cases. Everytime I fit new motherboard, I strip the cases and put them under warm shower. All the dirt comes off, and cases come up like new.
