Morlan said:The technology is there to input electonic video signals to the visual receptors in the brain, bypassing the eyes altogether. I saw a documentary 10 years ago where they inputed a very basic signal to the brain, not images, but it did work - the blind man could count the amount of dots that he could 'see'.
I'm sure there are tight restrictions on the amount of testing that can be done at the moment, but I belive that in the future, blind people will be able to see again.
Amazing stuff.

Oliver said:I am colourblind. It's not really as amazing as most people think, it's essentially a blending of the different colours into the same thing. For example: where a normal person would see a selection of greens, browns and reds on a detailed painting it would just look less distinct to a colourblind person. A good way of "simulating" it is to look at the more advanced versions of the colour blind tests.
I am quite severely colour blind but even I can tell it's an obvious number 25 in the picture. Because there's only two colours and they're quite far apart (in terms of shade) it's easy to distinguish.

This one is a lot harder though. Your eyes can see the difference but you can probably still understand that the colours are a lot more similar that the colours in the first picture. This is where it comes into play as I can't tell the difference between them enough to make out the number.

What is the number anyway?
