Ordered 12 2tb WD drives for a NAS, 2.5" off a 'big' Ebay company.. Sent to a verified address to my colleague who does the business with me, he called me to say he received it but was not happy about how it was packed, i assumed maybe no esd bags or maybe no padding. No, they sent all 12 drives loose in a plastic dpd bag. No box or padding, loose and banging on each other. Colleague tried about 7 drives, 4 don't spin at all. Just did a claim and refund and sent back, got the refund.
Seller messages me to say how i'm foolish and this is industry standard and all of the drives 'work fine' according to his technician.. Saving face?

Can't imagine they'll be in business very long. I assume they weren't advertised as brand new?

I'm not sure how i'd reply if someone called me a fool and told me that's industry standard how those drives were delivered. Perhaps i'd send over a picture of when we deliver huge storage arrays with hundreds of HDD's/SSD's and that they're not just loosely bouncing around in a carrier bag.

He must be in the wrong industry then.

Claim it back, leave negative feedback, job done.

And use OcUK. Dem Haribo's ain't gonna eat demselves fam.

They were advertised as new 'other' i.e system pulls from new servers apparently. Manufacturing date was 2018/19 but the one or two that worked to at least read some SMART info showed about 300-340hrs usage., so about 2 weeks which i suppose isn't the worst description.

And use OcUK.

I feel like this is the best possible answer. I've reached the point where I don't even bother shopping around these days, if OcUK stock it, they'll get my money. Even in the event that they're not the cheapest, I've never had a single bad experience with them.

I ask myself that every time I see a porsche parked outside a local mobile phone repair/accessory shop that never seems to have any customers going in or out.

I'm guessing money laundering

Thank you and yes we do aim to have some great deals but cannot always be the cheapest but we will bend over backwards to help genuine customers out. :)

Being the cheapest isn't the be all end all, the way you guys have looked after us for so many years (it must be close to 30 at this point??) engenders loyalty. Thank you for being such a good company that looks after its customers. :)

I bought a "brand new 500G HD" of rain forest week before last ... arrived in static bag (inside jiffy envelope)
date of manufacture of drive 11/2013 ..... must be taking the urine ... sent it back

Same, i've learnt that when purchasing something expensive that has a decent probability of breaking/is quite high tech, the customer service if it goes wrong is worth paying more for than finding the cheapest price!

OcUK will always get my business as long as the price isn't ridiculously higher, which it never normally is anyway :)

There’s also enough clueless punters paying over the odds for their iThings to be bodged back to life using knock-off spares to keep them in beer vouchers and flash cars.

I never trust the "new other" rating of fleabay. Nowadays I just assume it means knackered but looks OK.
