How do you choose a thermal paste?

Yeah I find those Vortez results slightly hard to believe. The stock Corsair TIM is a very good Shin Etsu paste costing a lot too. I don't know what they did, but maybe they got a bad mount? Everyone using it as-is and my tests showed otherwise.

Yeah those Vortez results are dubious. This one is better:

The old H100 used pre-applied Dow Corning thermal paste which is very good. I'm not sure what they use these days. Their Asetek derived units used Shin-Etsu (also very good compared to after market pastes) whilst their CoolIt derived units use Dow Corning.

For aftermarket solutions, I did a fair few tests back in the day. MX-4 is not that good. The older MX-3 was better and the AC guys even told me that MX-4 was meant to be cheaper and not necessarily better after I showed them the results. No idea why they stopped selling it.

Gelid's GC-Extreme was good when it came out a long time ago but again AC MX-3 was better. Thermalright's Chillfactor 3 is superior and cheaper but unfortunately OCUK don't stock it. Prolimatech's stuff is also on par and worth considering.
