I had to open Microsoft Paint to figure out how I usually draw a cross but I'm a number 8.

What's interesting, to me, is that 7 and 8 were close to neck and neck in the poll during the working day yesterday, but since then 8 has barely increased whereas 7 has shot ahead. I wonder if there's some sort of link with peoples' working day and the type of jobs that relates to.

Same, it's how I was taught to hand write on architectural plans many years ago.

I was taught to only write it like that on a maths problem to avoid confusing X with the multiplication symbol, I wonder if that's still taught that way at school?

Definitely 8 when writing non joined up. When continuing on in cursive from the previous letter then I tend still do 8 but with step 1 of 2 also sort of included in the join.
