How do you find time to adult and game?

Home at 6.30pm, eat dinner with the wife and watch one of our shows on tv. Around 8pm, head up stairs with the wife, boot up our PCs, game together with other friends online.

The secret is to get involved with a gamer, or in the case of my friend, after many years having finally converted his missus into a gamer :)

Hey Carl! No time no speak.

I'm a homeowner, husband and father to 1 year old daughter.

My daily schedule I try to stick to.

07:30 wake up and get ready for work (from home)
08:00 start work
12:00 break for lunch for an hour, spend it with my wife (stay at home mum) and daughter
13:00 resume work
17:00 finish work, cook some tea
17:30 take over parental duties to give the wife a break, play/feed daughter until she is ready for bath and bed.
19:00/19:30 bath/bed for daughter, wife puts her to bed while I go down and clean up toys, do the dishes etc.
20:00 all chores/cleaning done. (a personal rule for myself. I won't do anything else after 20:00)
20:00 - 23:00/0:00

My day is pretty jam packed between 08:00 and 20:00.

Whatever I/we fancy. Wife usually has an early night, sometimes she will come down after our daughter has gone to sleep and we will watch some TV or a film, or she will surf the net on laptop and I will play a game on the TV or do my own thing.

The biggest advantage I have here is working from home and a wife that likes her sleep :)

Weekends are family time and boring household jobs, washing, ironing, cleaning etc and going out shopping.

Edit: Just been reading some of the other replies. My wife doesn't like gaming but understands it's what I do and who I am. We've been married 3 years and together 15, living together for 7 years now. Before our daughter came along we had two computers in the spare room and would spend most nights sat on them. Me playing games and the wife surfing the net.

It's easy for me because the number of games that actually interest me these days are few and far between. I've spent the past week wondering what to buy in the sale and in the end I went and got Battlefront again which I'll probably be done with in another week.

Get in from work at 5:30PM, start to make tea if there isn't anything already premade. Eat at 6:00PM when Mrs comes in, do a bit of tidying up and washing up then have from 7:00PM till 9:00PM generally to watch a bit of TV with the Mrs. I don't really crack the XBOX on whilst she is down as its a bit antisocial, unless she is doing some work from home or similar so my free time on the XBOX is usually restricted to when she goes out at night or in the mornings at the weekend as I get up a lot earlier than her.

I do think I go to bed too early though.

Granted I get up at 5:30AM every day but I usually head upstairs getting ready for bed at about 9:00PM, spend half an hour flicking through news on my phone then i'm asleep for 10:00PM most nights!

Lessons learnt from this thread; partners who play games too are an awesome rarity, the majority of women really love watching crap!

Mine doesn't play but enjoys watching games like Zelda and The Last of Us so I get my gaming time in without any problems.

I think she just really like pointing out things I've missed and telling me to play better though.

My god send is the laptop!!

The missus is happy to watch her terrible tv shows on Sky Go,BBC iPlayer etc and I get the tv to game!
Kids are in bed by 7/8pm so I've got till about 11pm to do what I want.

Sometimes we have a "TV night" where we watch stuff we both like (walking dead,Breaking Bad etc)
Sorted!

Well I've just got home, about to cook, need to tidy, call parents aaaaaasaaaaaand it's gone. It's all gone. /South Park

Not even a gym day. Got to get my daily posts in on OCUK though because that is time really well spent *thumbs up*

Damn straight lol. As you can tell by the timing of my posts, I usually spend the 15 minutes before work in the morning on OCUK catching up with stuff. And similarly the 15 minutes after work but before dinner doing something similar. I'd probably play games after dinner, but I usually feel sleepy and thusly go to bed super early. I managed to get in an hour of Just Cause 3 yesterday though. I feel good about that.

You're doing it wrong. I also work from home and my wife is a sat at home mum. Therefore I don't clean, shop, laundry or anything else like that. Division of labour. ;)

I'll put up a post I wrote a few years back on the subject;

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=25591245&postcount=87

My thoughts largely remain the same, and even though the topic was slightly different, the point I was trying to get across is similar.

My idea was that I would be able to use remote play on the Vita once we go to bed around 10pm, but most of the time, I end up not feeling like it and waste time watching gaming videos on youtube instead.

So it's not that you don't have time, it's just you spend it differently.

You're allowed to change your priorities... :)

My ex (nothing to do with gaming) accepted that I need to play games a lot so was never an issue. I won't ever have kids either so that's a bonus.

I feel your pain.

I've got 2 kids, a full time job and multiple hobbies (recording music and BJJ). Between all of that I really struggle to find a decent amount of time. I normally play for maybe 6 hours a week (if I'm lucky), any more than that and the Mrs gets (understandably) upset.

I would like to play more but it's a difficult juggling act.

My wife is an avid gamer so finding the time to game is pretty easy. :)

The only downside to our setup is that she gets the PS4 pro and 4K TV.... :p

Well that and her in game RNG is vastly superior to mine....

I sold my gaming pc as I didn't have the willpower to stop playing the damn thing constantly. I downgraded to a PS4 pro so my gaming is limited to the odd late night session when the wife's gone to bed.

Honestly, I'm glad I've done it because I'm enjoying spending time with the family and seem far less angry.

Kids in bed by 7pm. Office has a seperate TV for her with Sky so she can occupy herself with crap TV and also speak to me. She's into games, footy, films so its a win win.

I don't have time. I'm barely good at this 'adult' thing so that takes the majority of my time!

We're quite into our TV shows at the moment so that takes up most of the night. Currently I only game about 1-3 times a week for about an hour at a time. Making my way through GTAV at the moment as I've been meaning to 'get to it' since release.

Got the girlfriend into gaming and she's playing through TLOU and seems to be enjoying it. In fact, she's gaming far more than I am these days.
