How do you get GTA IV to run..

I got GTA IV last year some time and have just gotten round to playing it. I installed it, and the latest patch (1.0.7.0). It's authenticated etc but when I run the game nothing happens!

It's all genuine discs etc and no I don't have any clone dvd style software on there. Any ideas or am I going to have to resort to finding a no cd crack for my genuine game?

Windows 7 Pro x64 if that makes a difference..

Shouldn't do, I run the retail version on 7 Ultimate x64. Have you tried the usual dance of running as admin, running with Vista compatabilty?

Just worked for me iirc. Is GTAIV one of the games you can add to steam?

I was just wondering that. If I add it to steam does that make it part of my steam catalogue

These DRM schemes are bloody annoying when they actually prevent genuine customers from playing the game! :mad:

All I see is the rockstar social club thingy, I sign in and press play. A CD mouse icon appears and the drive blinks a few times and then nothing. And this is literally the first time I've tried playing the game on this PC.

If you bought it as retail, then you cannot add it to your Steam catalogue, unless it says so on the box or something. But GTAIV isn't one of those games.

Ah well, guess this going on Ebay.

It's easy to see why Steam is so popular these days. Who can be bothered with carrying retail CD's about, especially when they give you hassle like this.

Did it install to Program Files x86? Think mine did. Have you tried navigating to the directory and running the exe?
