I'm curious to know how people get media such as music and films for devices that can play them, but aren't supported due to DRM. Example devices I am referring to are Android based devices, Linux based media PCs, or non-mainstream MP3 players.
The entertainment industry seems hellbent on protecting everything with DRM, so good luck trying to play that on any device that isn't supported (which is typically extremely few). I know you can get MP3s DRM-less from the rainforest place and the P-place, but the selection isn't huge compared to those that are DRM protected. I'm not even sure if you can buy movies digitally.
So from my perspective, you can: only get a very limited selection of DRM-free content, download content illegally, or buy on DVDs or CDs and convert them into a playable form for your media player of choice which seems like a massive hassle.
So my question is, how do you get your media for your device (legitimately of course)? Is there some incredible online store that I have missed that offers DRM-free content?
