well i think that happened because it was not partitioned in the GUID file system! trying again will keep you updated

update.... yes it works! fantastic way to backup me thinks... its a shame i dont think i will be able to create an a bootable bootcamp xp install from usb tho :(

would be nice to have a complete backup. like a once a week drive clone.. i could sleep easy at night knowing my productivity would be unaffected even with a complete hard drive crash!

I never backup everything, this is how I do it:

Store all my files (so Documents or code) in a folder WORK (with all my projects as subdirectories).

Burn all the install files for apps I use to DVD.

There's not much point to backing up software that you can just re-install anyway.

And unless you edit movies, the size of the WORK folder is normally under 5GB (well it is for me anyhow) so it'll fit on a USB stick!

Cheers

Having a mirror of your machine is always good. Ok so it takes up a LOT more space, but it means you don't have to go and totally set the machine up again, and you can be up and running VERY quickly :)

Maybe SuperDuper! can't do this but this is what I'd like it to do:

Backup from a drive on the network to a local usb drive. It won't let me select the network disk via the drop down so I take it no-can-do?
