Just wondering about your best ways of making gold.

As a 70 mage full epic kara/za/gruul gear i normally farm motes, mainly mana in southern netherstorm, do daily quests, and recently ive made quite a bit from inscription, about 500g in the last few days.

What do you lot do? Any of you run solo instances?

What do you need it for? I kind of ran out of stuff to spend my gold on once I got epic mounts on all my characters and I still have 16k gold but no motivation or need to get more.

If you play a lot it just accumulates anyway. If you need it for a specific purpose, I used to farm blood elves around the mana forges for (arcane tomes and signets), kirin var village (for motes), or just do the dailies (more boring than just farming imo).

If you get a lot of unneeded badges of justice, trade them in for epic gems and flog them on the AH.

EDIT - I made a few thousand selling large prismatic shards and epic gems when they were going for 30g and 300g respectively on my server. Prices are generally quite deflated now though.

I have rogue and mage

on rogue i do daily quests can do around 15 of them in about an hour so given money and drops thats around 200 gold bang right there, if you have an epic mount its very fast to do them in outlands i do them in this order.

teleport to DQ island

do all quests there, egg back to shatt

fly on epic mount to nagrand do quest

fly 2 wildhammer place or whatever, do 18g quest
fly up to hellfire do 2 quests
fly to area 51 do plans quest
egg back to shatt hand in all quests
teleport to DQ island then hand in 18g quest

then get a m8 to add u to bg in main city (usually shatt) and BANG 200g after selling your crap, i usually get about 4-5 greens and lots of rubbish etc.

then i do DQ island with Mage then theres 150g
then finally both PVP DQ with both chars

totalling up around 400g for a 2hourish stint if u dont get ganked and the drop rates of the ores in the harbour is good etc.

failing all that when i made my mage i raked the money in, got loads of blues that sold fast for twinks and easily totalled up 2000-3000g just getting to 70, and even then i did most on rested XP that i had the whole of area51 and wildhammer quests purely for gold!!!!

anyways thats my 2cents

I do the Isle of Quel'danas dailies, it gives enough gold to be able to buy raid consumables and potions and such. I don't really hoard gold like a lot of WoW players do - I just earn and spend as I need to. So I'm always hovering around the 60 gold mark.

currently sitting on 23,000gold on my main and i will have that up to 25,000gold for wotlk. Gold will be far easier to get in wotlk but, there are going to be things that cost a lot of gold too. Epic Rings with teleport functions sell for 8,000g and 3 person mounts (with vendors) go for 20,000gold

Thats just :eek::eek::eek:

I mailny do the dailies and sell motes/primals/any gear i find to earn enough for my epic mount :p

I used to play the auction house but Its not really possible to make any decent amount of gold on the server i play on atm, everyone seems to be dumping mass amounts of everything so the entire market has tanked and trying to resell is just pointless and i dont think its worth risking trying to control anything.

i hate daily quests

This is a good point. You may well find it easier wait until level 80 (the sooner you get there the better as far as earning potential goes) since the AH will pick up as 'new and improved' drops and trade items start making an appearance. This may mostly apply to those with gathering skills.

same on my realm, people put the prices up to something ridiculous, and throws my auctioneer mod off

What you all should have done is seen this coming about 2/3 months ago and started offloading all your unneccessary bank items onto the AH for newbs to buy.

I made 8-10k+ by cashing in near 500 heroic badges for epic gems, crafting and selling on AH.

Around 200/250G per gem. Also motes/primals, etc sold well.

The best way to earn money NOW is to sell what will be irrelevant in the new game and keep questing with dailies. Everyone seems to be jumping on the inscription bandwagon so I would give that a week or two max before you can't get decent money from it.

just done what Knubje said just got rid of my badges for epic gems sold them = :) got just over 15k now

also been selling a lot of low level herbs on my alt i make more off them then high level herbs :S

im just stocking up on stuff now for cooking, tailoring, first aid enchanting before they go up in price to level up to 400

made 4,000g with about 3 hours work the day inscription came out. Power levelled it with pre gathered herbs. Then sold the glyphs for around 50g each (some are going for as low as 50silver now). Sold left over herbs to, a stack of herbs that normally goes for 4g was going for 80g. That was a good day of gold making :)

Had 200 Badge of justices which i turned into epic gems before the market got flooded, made 350g per gem :)

TBH making money on the AH at the moment is very hard too many people selling their banks. I'm keeping certain things as people leveling death knights and new alts will need them and with outland being sparsely populated these things will start selling again

In no way at all. My character was the best geared rogue on the server for a while but I literaly had no gold, once during a raid both my weapons broke and I had to equip some random epic in main hand and no weapon at all in the offhand because I could not afford to repair my weapons when the repairbot came.

Eventually got given some gold by a guildy when he asked why I was equipped like that.

Grinding ftl. I got my Epic Mount for free from being a Warlord, good job too as I would never have been able to afford it otherwise.

(This was all before TBC ofc its all changed now)

My Paladin on a different server however was incredibly wealthy from buying dozens of Perfect Black Diamonds just after the patch came out that made them really common and selling them to people who didn't know yet. :D

Currently sitting on 56,6xxg on 3 70's and 3 low level chars. All made by buying and selling on AH using auctioneer and common sense. All money earned due to being bored while sitting in Org, waiting to raid. Needless to say I don't bother with dalies ;)

i used to hate people who would come unprepared to a raid. i'd kick them from the guild.

With a full epic 70, with epic mount, etc I dont even see the point in farming for gold these days. Theres no motivation to buy anything in particular...and levelling from 70-80 in WOTLK will guarantee a tonne of gold on the way...
