I should say i did worse when I was 17 for my first job. My 1st job was working for Alfa Romeo in a Dealership. I just walked in with my Cv, not expecting to be interviewed on the spot, so I had no suit on, jeans a Miam 05 Basketball style top, white DC's and some sunglasses on. Did something right as I was called back and given a job - though I did go back in a suit

Sadly I think you're right. At a previous employer, we advertised our entry level jobs at the Job Centre. The quality of application was appauling.

On more than one occasion, I was tempted to write to the office and tell them "if this is how someone is applying for jobs, it's no wonder they are unemployed".

Could've been a free agent and a modern renaissance man -- anything would do. Should have sent him on a wild goose chase around some random rough trading estate, with his CV in tow! Although, a one-liner would've done just as well. If he's serious, he would get his ducks in a row, if not -- no loss to you.
