Ok last week I made my first ever pot of soup, Which was a Scotch Broth with some lamb.

This week I thought I would try making some lentil soup with ham ribs.

So I have onions, carrots, a bag of lentils, pototoes and some ham stock cubes.
oh and some ribs :)

How would you go about making the soup?
I don't own a blender.

cut everything soft up as much as you can, chuck everything in a pan with the ribs and some water, leave it bubbling away

Assuming its not meant to be a cream based soup, adding more water will help to reduce the saltyness, but will also thin it out.

When making lentil soup the first thing you do is:

1.. Boil lentils in plain water for about 10-15 minutes unitls soft and mushy (add pepper or herbs here if you wish)
2.. Add veg at this point and ribs and stock to cover ribs
3.. Boil for about 30 - 60 minutes depending on meat

Eat.

Thats how I do it but without the ribs, I usually add bacon to be honest.

Dont ever be tempted to add salt until cooked and tated as the stock will be salty in itself.

If you want it smooth blend it but never add cream to make it a cream of as this does not work with lentils (im ny experience)
