How do you motivate yourself to revise

Go to the library.

This x 1000. Or anywhere else (quiet room at work, even a nice cafe with a quiet corner table) which doesn't have plenty of distractions eg. TV, Xbox, etc.

If the distraction is there you will be distracted by it.

Do 9am - 5pm and treat it like a job then you have the evening to look forward to. If you do need to do it pretty much all day then set yourself rewards (hour of gaming/TV) at specific periods.

However I know your pain and thank god I don't have to do it any more. When I was at Uni and in the house share with my mates, during exam time the house was never cleaner and the freezer must have been defrosted twice a week. Any excuse to do something else lol.

Think i may book it soon. Changing jobs on monday, new employer already said they'll happily pay for exam sits so will need to wait till then to book it.

Till then ill be forcing myself too revise with music!

Yes, as above, book the exam. You then have no choice in the matter, it's what I did for Sun and Checkpoint exams in the past... I had to spend a few intense weeks labbing everything and ensuring I understood the topics properly. :)

If anything, booking the exam makes me over-revise.

Hrm, need to pull my thumb out and carry on revising my current avenues of study. :/

Try and find practice examples of the information in the books, it may take longer, but its it's more practical knowledge it may seem more interesting and easier the retain. Try and do some research on those bits that spike your interest, use the web and alternative sources, explanations done multiple ways will give you a more complete view of the subject.

Think of what you're doing it for in the first place, and what you get out of it at the end of it. Then think of what situation you're gonna be left in otherwise. If that doesn't do it, maybe you're doing the wrong thing (if you had a choice in it)
