How do you play your games?

I might make a list of what games I'm going to play and complete in what order. I have about 130 games now, hardly completed 10% of them.

My Christmas holiday will be FULL of gaming!

Depends on the type of game for me. If a game has a good story/narrative i will only focus on that, for example if i am playing through an RPG i will not play any other games whilst playing it so atm i am ONLY playing Skyrim and nothing else, when i have finished with that i will either have a few FPS on the go such as TF2 and BF3 and play a bit of Fifa or i will play through Arkham City until completion(maybe with a bit of BF3 as well).

As someone said earlier, if i was playing through the Mass Effect games for example, i would not play any other games along side them. Same with most RPGs

If I'm really immersed in a game then I can play through and complete it before starting another. However, normally what I tend to do is to have at least a couple on the go, so if I get stuck then I have something else ready to give me a break from the other title. When I revisit a game I usually find the absence of play has done me good. As well as single player games, I also like some CS:S for refreshment, this mixes things up and provides a break from single player games - period. As long as I like a sp title enough I always complete it, even if it takes a while, weeks or even months.

I typically try to stick with one game at a time nowadays, especially since getting a SSD. If I get stuck then I stop playing but always keep my savegames to come back to, some games I came back to several years later (Halflife, GTA3), for example my System Shock 2 saves are over 7 years old but I haven't deleted them.

One thing I do have a tendancy to do however is play rubbish games almost in the hope that I can say "that's rubbish, I'm moving on", for example I'll just fire up a 3 year old mediocre FPS/racing game that was rubbish at the time never mind now, something I got in a big pack on Steam or whatever. Something that is quite shallow and easy to get into - occasionally I get pleasantly surprised but it seems a bit silly to do this when I also have plenty of 90%+ rated games sitting around unplayed.

The problem I have is finding the time to grind out some games, I've recently started gambling a lot more and that is almost replacing my gaming, I can easily spend 20+ hours a week working out bets etc. In theory I'm playing The Witcher at the moment but I haven't touched it for a couple of weeks.

Funny thing is in some ways gaming is a bit like a chore, in that I like completing games so I can move on to the next one, whereas in years gone by it was really disappointing for a great game to come to an end.

I hate that cause its ture. I have so many games Im playing them in a urry to complete them so i can play the next one.

Back in the day ID savour them and not only play them but try to unlock and do everythign and replay levels etc.

Like I only had ff7 when I had ff7. SO i just played and played it and searched all towns and try to level up all magic and kill emerald and ruby weapon and stuff.

Nowadays i try to get game over and doen wiht, thats a bad mentality.

I used to savour and enjoy it.

Even when GTA3 was released on PS2 I never had many other games. Id pi$$ about on that for ages...getting cop chases, going on killing sprees, driving in the rain. It wasnt even game missions. I just savoured and enjoyed the game.

Now, its like ''well I shoudl really hurry up and complete misions so I can play new game''

I get engrossed in 1 game then steam have a sale and it messes things up :P Few weeks ago i was going between oblivion and deus ex, now dead island has taken over. I do try and finish games (which is why im playing oblivion AGAIN...never done more than 1 oblivion gate :p) but like to have more than one on the go so i dont get bored :)

i'm the same as you OP...

Too many, I never have time to finish one before i move onto the next and jump round constantly. So recently I've been trying to play though whole games before jumping onto the next one. Sorta working...

Skyrim is a big one tho but still has me totally hooked! And i have plenty of flight sims that eat time but they are a bit different.

I only ever have one game installed and playing at one time until i've completed it or get fed up with it. Then i move on to the next

Play lots of games and give them up after a few weeks.

When I find a good game, will play it for several years literally, the list isn't long probably forgot some though.

Unreal tournament 2
Quake ??
C&c red alert + yuris revenge
Soldier of fortune
c&c renegade
X2 the threat
Star wars galaxies
Call of duty 2
Battlefield 2

Been nothing in the last few years though.
