How do you pronounce the word archive?

Just hear somebody say ar-chive.

I, personally, say ar-kive.

Who is correct - if either of us are. :o

How many of you know how to pronounce the famous waxworks 'madam Tussaud ' ?.

Its pronounced two- so & not toosword , 99.9% of the nation get it wrong & that includes TV & the media :D :p :D

Ar-kive definitely, oh and I love how some people mispronounce words, myself included. I used to say "jilly" for gilly and "porned" for pwned. But a female friend of mine says "lin-guh-ree" instead of lingerie (lon-jer-ay), with a bit of a french tinge, it sounds really common lol.

Ah well, horses for courses.

I think you've made that figure up mate.

I've heard loads of people pronounce it properly, including the BBC.

What about 'either', ee-ver or eye-ver?

None of the above! The 'th' should not be replaced with a 'v'. You dont say 've' when you want to say 'the', just like you dont say 'vere' when you want to say 'there'. Its the the same for any of the 'th' beginning words.

This is all simple, and basic english. This sounds petty, but people who do the above need to be re-educated!! The word 'Either' is pronounced one of the following ways:

'ee-th-errrr'

or

'aye-the-errr'
