How do you select reverse in a Mini Cooper S?

oh, never driven a car bar BMW that you've had to push it anywhere near this hard, and my mk2 mondeo had a lever.

Mine's a facelift MK3 6 speed, dont know what the others are like. Cant comment on the mini but you definitely need to push it pretty hard

I have to admit to looking at the manual to find out how to reverse the ST220 when I went out for a test drive. Never drove a car which required a push to the left, I though the gearbox was knackered at first.

I dont understand the struggle, it sounds like exactly the same method as my mondeo. When I got it, I hadnt driven a car that worked like that before but I figured it out in about 5 seconds

I'd just never driven a car that required so much force to get it in to reverse. Rather than keep shoving on the stick I thought I better make sure I was doing it right. It really has quite a pop to it!

Same on my ST170, didn't have a clue how to get it into reverse when I first got in it!

this reminds me of when my mum first tried to dive a loaned astra 1.7dti estate.. *shudder*
she couldn't find reverse and kept edging slowly towards the garage door.
