How Do You Sell Items?

Ive got a 1080 to sell. Like **** is it going on ebay. Tried the water with gumtree and got nothing but broken english responses asking me to deliver or post it all over the place. It will be worthless by the time I find a buyer :)

Probably had several people emailing you with an offering price already :p

So is the buyer and considering OP has to ask GD how to sell stuff online, i am willing to bet we will see a scam thread in the next few weeks, followed by a 'Paypal siding with buyer ' thread

I can imagine seeing them threads are probably an annoyance. I think first I'll see about GumTree. Sounds safer to begin with.

For those with MM access, a while ago I did post to try see what my guitar set could go for but didn't receive any love :( (thread here).

I don't drive, so transport would be an issue and I think most are a good drive away from me.

Obviously both are covered, but it always depends on the circumstances. :D

Most of the ebay threads here are ridiculous anyway.

How I sell depends on the type of item. Generally, cars are trade-in though anythjng rare or expensive would either be specialist auction or maybe via forums like owners club sites.

Most smaller average stuff is either given away, traded in or donated to various charity shops. I don't use ebay though. It's too much hassle for low value stuff, and for higher value stuff I wouldn't trust it.

Pawn shop? Music shop? Second hand shop?

Gumtree - full of hagglers and time wasters, with some good people here and there. Overprice stuff by a small margin as people are likely never to ever pay your displayed asking price for anything and expect a discount. Also state for things on gumtree when someone contacts you that you have a lot of interest and the first person to come and collect ASAP gets it and under no circumstances hold anything for anyone who hasn't phoned you and they don't sound like a complete moron and you have stated to them your sick and tired of time wasters, etc. For instance I had 2 people supposedly coming this weekend to collect stuff, neither have got back to me even though they said they would to confirm which day/time suited them.

Ebay - collection only is good ig you live in a large city. You need to have a long listing period though and a reserve price or starting price which is the minimum you would take.
