How do you stop cats crapping in your garden?

Yes its absolutely terrible - just look at the cat he looks so distressed....
It's quite hard to spot distress in cats, they can be pretty ill and not show a sign, you can in fact poison them with antifreeze and for them to not show any symptoms until it's almost too... ...wait, why am I telling you this, you already know, silly me :o

Anyway, a hunting animal on a lead, 10 minutes outside, that's never going to be healthy is it? Let's not use Americans as a guideline for sane behaviour,
I don't even put a lead on my dog.

erm a dog would be a 'hunting animal' too no? FWIW its generally a good idea to put a dog on a lead when not in a park etc... quite irresponsible to not do so regardless of any naive views you may have that your dog wouldn't do anything....

You can walk a dog for hours, cats stop when they get to the edge of their territory.
I live in the country, dog walks to heel, stops when I say so (and hides behind me if anyone approaches :o)

LOL @ being lectured by a freaky animal hater about animals :D

Serious post omg!!

There are some photos in the thread of a system that has poles that roll so the cats can't grip them.
I am sure it would cost a few £ especially if you had large boundary, but I actually like the look wierdly and if it kept cats out (or in) then seems fine.

Now with a system such as this available for most owners they should be able to pen in their own cats to avoid the straying vermin. But I would bet my last $ that most would not, as cats are inherantly the animals selected by the lazy and/or selfish as they want a pet but not most of the upkeep.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before as not read entire thread...

A friend of mine had a similar problem and he decided that since cats are territorial he'd mark his own territory with his urine. Gathering a decent amount in a bottle and marking out a perimeter along with any areas where the cat likes to take a dump.

He swears this approach worked but I have no first hand evidence to back up his claim.

Possibly worth a shot? :D

I think i pointed out earlier that it isn't just water that can be put into water bombs **use imagination**.

If you come up with the correct solution its a bit more direct than marking your borders ;)
