How Do You Store Your Spices?

Cheap kilner jars which are a waste of money as they aren't even remotely air tight. Need to replace them with some proper ones.

I have a small genuine spice sized kilner jar at home and seems as well built as the larger versions I have. Did you mean the cheap knock-off ones?

I've been contemplating my spice storage since finishing my kitchen install. At the moment they're all sat in a pan drawer which is a bit of a waste.

I did like the idea of putting them on a floating shelf for easy access during cooking but obviously using a kilner jar or something similar means light will get to them. The only thing I found that looked somewhat interesting were clip top tea caddys but at £4 each I'm looking at around £200 in total... oof.

Looks like a well made stand, where perchance would i acquire one of these

It's not a stand, it's a pull out larder thing like this one http://www.hafele.co.uk/shop/p/pull-out-larder-units-for-300-mm-cabinet-width/larder-unit-side-mounting-min-installed-height-1935-mm-for-300-mm-cabinet-width/69037/10133

Also if you could Stan could you measure the diameter of the stickers, or of the best fitting stickers. Thanks

I can go one better. Here's a link to the labels on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004UGGVW6/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 :)

The genuine ones are really quite cheap, fortunately.

The 2L ones I use for flour storage are only ~£4 while the small spice ones are just over £1 if I recall.

Yeah I got proper big ones, but the small ones are relatively expensive, as you need so many. Iirc it was something like £70 vs £17, although that £17 turned out to be totally wasted money.
I do need a spring clean out of the food cupboards and a reorganisation.

Is there a simple program to design the prints on? As I have a fair few things that aren't on normal sheets, as well as spice mixes which are never on any of the ore designed sheets.

Can you get retro fitting larder pull outs?
Nvm you can indeed about £20 a per basket draw. Not sure if its worth spending that on a rented house.

I got a template from the manufacturer's website. I can't remember who the manufacturer for those particular labels is and I'm offshore at the moment.

Send me a message in trust I'll see what I can do for you

Thanks for the offer, but haven't got the money to buy proper jars at,, so would be a bit pointless.

Templates are only good if you have a tiny range of popular spices. A lot of packs don't even distinguish between dried, whole, salts, granules. Take garlic, got dried granule and garlic salt. Chilli got lots of varieties as I grow my own. Then have custom tubs. Have a jar of slat pepper garlic as well as rib rub, Cajun etc, which you never find in templates.

Designing your own is the way forward. Or for someone who can be bothered design customisable sets and sale on eBay. Have like basic pack, extended pack, ultimate pack and then add extras on for 5p a label or something.

Well I had planned to just copy one of the designs, blank out text and go from there. I wouldn't go to the effort of getting some done and not have the facility to do them all.
