How do you Think of a Gamer Name?

My first ever username was NikMic. First 3 letters of my name, coupled with the first 3 letters of my surname (my dad used the same system). I didn't game back then, so it was not my gaming aliases.

When Iwas doing my PSN username, I didn't know what to chose. A few days before, I was speaking to my friend about what passwords we use. He mentioned that he uses balzan (where I live). I had thought that I would prob just use PSN for a few days, then forget all about it. Balzan stuck with me for a long time (still called by that on PS).

When I felt i needed a change, I went to xPandemic. I knew a guy who was called Epidemic, and I liked it. Give it a bit of variation, and BOOM, you get Pandemic.

I lost both these PSN accounts, so I needed to do something funny. i went with OwwEmmGee. This didn't last more than 1 month though.

I was always called the malteser online, due to where I come from (obviously). I said, why not make my username my actual online nickname? And it has stuck ever since. Been some 2 years now or more.

I feel I need a name. I have a good name, but I'm not sure I want to change, because then i have to change my STEAM, Origin and all that.

I've used the same name in almost everything and the funny thing is i didn't make it up, pretty much stole it. Friend made it as the name for one of the guest profiles on gamecube time splitters iirc and that's the profile i always used. Acquired the name as my own since then :o I've wanted to use something different for years but can never come up with one i like.

I was drinking a cup of tea from my sister's piglet mug (from Winnie the Pooh), so I started using piglet and then changed it later on to piggeh.

My original moniker was "Maverick". This was because I needed a callsign for playing an old Apogee shareware vertical scrolling shooter called Raptor, and let's be honest, you can't get a better pilot callsign than Maverick, can you?

However, as "Maverick" is such a hugely original nickname, when I starting playing Quakeworld online I discovered that there was already a player with that nickname (a pretty decent player who played for Demonic Core who were one of the top UK clans of the time). I got fed up of people asking me if I was "DC Maverick?", so I needed a new nickname.

"HangTime" was then chosen in 1998 because I enjoyed death-from-above style gameplay, leaping off ledges and spinning round to unload on enemies below. It was loosely influenced by basketball, not the kids tv show but that was one of the sports where the phrase was coined to denote hanging in the air before delivering a killer shot.

MooseXL - This was when I was a teenager, my brother called me a Moose and because I was fat I added XL onto it.

Big Jaffa - Again because I was fat and I liked Jaffa cakes

Luckystrike - I liked the legend that 1 in every 100 tabs would be a joint

Recently I've found it very hard to log into anything as Luckystrike so have started using the first 2 again even though I'm no longer a fat knacker!

I was drinking a cup of tea from my sister's piglet mug (from Winnie the Pooh), so I started using piglet and then changed it later on to piggeh.

I'd always meant to ask you about that. :p

Zero Pope - Two random words I chose that don't sound too try hard to me.

Usually I change it to a mixture of celebrity names; Hulk Wogan, Ray Mearsterio, Stone Cold Steve Davis all with a matching photoshopped face for the profile pic.

Most of my forum names; Crimsonfury came from Twisted Metal on PS1. Used that name on WoW and it stuck.

IGN is usually Aftermath, which if I recall correctly (This was a long time ago), is from when I was setting up XBL, I was looking around my room for some inspiration, saw an old Eminem CD case, which was produced by Aftermath, and I've always just stuck with it, as it's what my other gamer friends know me by.
