How do you turn off hardware acceleration on Nvidia cards?

It wasn't known to me that programs like Skype are raping GPU temps until I checked today in Afterburner. Chrome is also guilty of this but thankfully that has an option to disable hardware acceleration. I'd rather have my GPU at 40c idle than the 52c when I have just Skype open, thanks.

Windows 8.1 if that helps.

If there is an option, it'll be in Skype.

But who uses Skype, it's 2016...

And who cares about idle gpu temps?

Skype uses your GPU as it is a requirement of the program. Wouldn't matter if AMD or NVidia, it will use it if it is available.

Meh I got a work around. Just using Skype Web beta. Might be better tbh, no HA now and no ads either!

Like I agree Skype is bad but when your friends of like 10 years all migrated from MSN to Skype that was bad enough. Not like I can say to my 20+ friends on Skype "lol can u change Skype is bad lol".

Am I missing something - what's wrong with Skype? I have a gaming group on there, can easily message a bunch of friends or host a group call whilst we play League of Legends or whatnot. Does everyone use Discord now, or are you purely single player game players?
