How do you use iTunes daily?

Howdy,

I was a avid PCer, and have been for years, but recently made the transition to mac (although I'm still using a UK windows keyboard... i'm a web developer and the # is in a BAD place for me!).

I work from home, so will be on my mac everyday (bar weekends of course :) ) and use itunes to listen to music all the time. Fortunately I used itunes on the PC aswell, as it is such a beautifully simple interface to use, and it could be minimised as a toolbar in the windows taskbar!

Just wondering how you use itunes on your macs? When you are doing your everyday stuff, where do you have itunes running (eg miniplayer, dock etc)? I am at 2560x1600 at currently have the itunes miniplayer to the left of my dock, but i do lost apps behind it sometimes? What do you do?

Also, whilst I'm here, earlier whilst having windows or apps open and dragging them on my desktop they use to snap to the top of the dock and to the edges of my screen, its not doing it anymore, any ideas why? I'm sure I couldn't get windows behind my dock, but they are happily going there now? If I can find out how to get this back on, then my miniplayer should be protected in the bottom right of the screen!

Any help will be appreciated!

I would usually have a playlist of the songs I want to listen too that day or whatever, and close iTunes so it is hidden and use You control: Tunes to change tracks.

Looks like this:

Only got my first Mac today, so still getting to grips with it! (Can't actually find the hash key come to mention it!)

With regards to iTunes, I just have it minimised to the dock and use the remote to control between tracks.

Yeah, its not even labeled on a UK mac keyboard! Its Option+3, and Shift+3 on a US keyboard.

I use # a lot and Option+3 is far to many key presses, so I am sticking to my trusty Logitech Windows keyboard :)

I use the miniplayer (always on top) on the top right of my macbook - don't block a lot of my space, plus I use the mighty mouse, a squeeze of the sides and I got straight to my desktop, so icons are not blocked.

Just play and pause with my remote when I'm AFK.

You could just right-click the iTunes icon to skip/pause/stop/play tracks ;)

I have it on miniplayer with shuffle active if I'm not using my external monitor, using GrowlTunes to show what track it just changed to.

If I'm using my external monitor I just plonk it full screen on one of them. Using the remote to change tracks etc both ways.

Party shuffle & iTunes closed.

Then just skip it with the right-click if the song is particularly annoying :)

I use a small app called sizzlingkeys (or something) that allows me to define key commands for itunes that work within other applications. It is amazing how once you get used to it how much time it saves skipping that one track you are not so keen on.

I just start it up as usual and start firefox or whatever over the top.

Then I just click the icon in the dock when I want to select a new playlist or whatever, or I just use F9.

I usually just have all programs open as normal, I use F9 a lot.
