How do you use scales when your floors are uneven?

I have some bathroom scales but I live in an old building and none of the floors are properly flat. So whenever the scales get moved, my weight suddenly jumps up or down a few KG. I read that uneven floors cause this but I'm not really sure how to get a consistent reading. Any tips?

not much you can do unless you're going to start investing a lot of cash to even things up.

Put them in the same place each time and it'll be consistently inaccurate. You won't know what you actually weigh for sure but the difference (gain or loss) should be correct.

Put a square piece of thick solid wood under it to distribute the weight on the floor?

Unless it's a really old set of scales I am sure most if not all come now with adjustable feet. Just turn the feet clockwise to lower the feet or anti clockwise to raise them to accommodate the floors unevenness. If you have a smart phone you can download and install a spirit level. Plonk that in the center of the scales as you adjust the feet to get the bubble in the center. Make sure you set the scales in the same location very time though when you come to use them.
