How does a G4 powerbook compare to a C2D vaio?

If i could get one of the refurbished laptops on the education VAT free thing i would snap it up, really could do with a lappy for uni so i can stop lugging my Lanboy around for holidays and reading weeks.

Is tehre anywhere that says the details about what's been refurbished on *** laptops? Some of them are cut by 37% (macbook pro, down to £1199 from £1899). that's a pretty significant price cut surely there must be something wrong with it.

You are getting essentially new - these have been returned and a restocking fee paid. There are very rare horror stories, but they all end with another unit being sent out straight away. These are outnumbered by the stories of the unit exceeding the listed specs! It has exactly the same guarantee as store bought goods and you can buy the AppleCare warranty for it too. You *can't* use the Student Discount or configure it .

[edit] missed the ['t] in above!

In answer to below, you get the standard 1 year warranty with all Apple Hardware, and like storebought you can extend this to 3 with AppleCare.

I believe you cant use the student discount on it, and it has a limited warranty if you read the terms and conditions on the refurbished bit. I think the jist of it is 1 year instead? May be wrong but they definitely have a different warranty, i read it yesterday :o
