I honestly can't believe the comments that are being posted in this thread, it really shows a nasty and narrow minded side to people. I find it even less palatable given that many members of this forum are inherently from a background of computing being geeks/nerds throughout their lives and who for many have probably faced experiences of judgemental views and comments being made about them during their lives, they should know better. Only recently has it become cool to be in IT, before that we were the outcasts and weirdos with an interest in something stupid.
Ultimately a person cannot help the way they look when they are born, it's a simple game of genetics. And by the grace of good fortune the majority of us come out pretty similar without any additional challenges in life to deal with. Just because someone is different in appearance or has attributes which are less common in the population or suffer from a disability why should they be subject to hateful and derogatory comments online about the way they look? Why should they have to have judgement passed on who they are with because of the way they look without a single shred of knowledge of who that person is or what their circumstances are.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and despite the fact that someone may be very attractive to a lot of people doesn't automatically mean that they will only ever date someone else who is very attractive. Perceived attractiveness by others says nothing about what that person feels as an individual about others. Who are we to judge those people, they deserve happiness. Even more so given the struggles involved compared to the rest of society. Who cares if someone is disfigured or in a wheel chair or looks a bit different, that thing inside all of our heads... it is still processing thoughts, experiences and feelings just like everyone else except the outer shell may be a little different that the majority.
Absolutely shameful. Have a word with yourselves.
