How does my build look? gaming/university graphics work

Hey, I'm building a gaming/graphic work PC and I was wondering if I could get some pointers? I have this build currently, I need to know if it's all compatible and what changes need to be made regarding that. Also if there is anything particularly bad/overpriced there could I get some alternatives? Is there anything missing?

What would you suggest in the motherboard department?

I can keep the Processor and increase my graphics if I need to (within a resonable range), What graphics card would you suggest?

I can go up to about £1,200 at a push. But I'd prefer to stay under £1,100.

The CPU I have is cheaper than the i7s this week so it's better to keep that.

Would it not be best to go for an Nvidia card for CUDA if he's doing graphics work as well?

What software are you using OP?

Photoshop, illustrator, artrage, maya, ect

It's a games design course.

Are you taking the rig away for uni? Maybe a mini-itx rig would be more portable? Using the Bitfenix Prodigy perhaps?

I'm already at uni so portability isn't too much of an issue, I'm currently here with no computer and it's killing me, so I decided to build this for use and a project
