How does one go about getting a kick about of football

find out where the local adults play, near where i live theres a huge grass field near a park and in the summer theres usually atleast 2 different footbal games going on at the same time and its all adults, usually theres a bunch playing cricket aswell.
its just a crappy grass field aswell without any football markings although it does have 2 goal posts (half size ones) that no one uses

one of my sisters ex's used to play for a local pub team and he wasnt all that great

This, I've played 5 aside with groups from the last two places I've worked just for fun no leagues or anything. Really mixed ability, put a poster up on the notice borads or send an email round you will be amazed how many people are keen for a casual kick about.
 
I guess I'm lucky that I still play in a 7-a-side team with 4 of my close mates from school (plus a couple of other mates). The best bit is we are pretty successful despite not having the pedigree of a lot of the other teams.

I still play on a Saturday, a team which is only 3 years old and trying to make it's way up the local leagues.
 
Sometimes it's just a case of right place at the right time.

I got asked by a mate to play in a friendly kick-about on a Sunday with some people he worked with, and whilst playing there, someone there also played on a Tuesday night not far away and they were short a few players a lot of the time.

Even if you aren't particularly enjoying it / getting regular games playing in a league, it's good to have your name in the hat for when other opportunities spring up. When I started on the Sunday I was just learning how to play again, but now if my legs are up to it I can play three times a week if I so choose. :)
 
Where abouts do you live Compboyo? Some teams advertise on gumtree, or my team have a site on Pitchero
 
Is there a local team you support? Or even a local supporters branch if you support a largeish club. They may have a forum and do powerleague 5 a side matches or whatever it gets called near you. I play with guys at work on a Monday but I'm looking to play again near the end of the week now I'm fitter and better(ish).

There is a lot of murder involved in your football games, I'm not sure I would want you playing with me.
