Always been curious about this.
If I understand correctly increasing voltage by say 100mv would roughly equate to a 10% increase in a card's listed TDP. A 980 Ti for example would go from 250W to 275W. Does this mean that overclocking without touching voltage or power limit results in a card staying (roughly) within its listed TDP?
Or does any sort of core/clock increase irrespective of voltage and power limit changes simply make the card use more power than it otherwise would? This seems to be the most logical answer but then what exactly is a card's listed TDP representative of? The card at stock settings? Or the card drawing the maximum power available without any power limit or voltage increase?
