I was told recently that it does, can someone educate me..

I have: CRUCIAL 6GB PC12800 DDR3 1600MHZ RAM currently in my system can the speed be increased in order to aid any potential overclocks..?

Thanks.

Isn't it to do with the memory frequency being tied into the cpu frequency somehow?

I've probably misread somewhere but thats what I've been led to believe.

It completely depends on what memory controller you are using. Without system specifications, it's impossible to answer this question.
