How does this look for a first time build?

Dont really have a budget, although I dont want to go crazy!

Mainly used for gaming, I want to go for a SLI configuration over 1 card as I think it looks better in the case.

Likewise with the ram, I've decided to go for 4x4GB over 2x8GB because I think it'll look better.

With that said, I am very new to building a rig, this will be my first one.
Anything you'd change?

Already have a case, a Corsair C70

Thank you

You could do better than that:

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lightning 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £599.99
1 x Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £197.99
1 x Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £172.99
1 x Samsung 250GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE250BW) £155.99
1 x Silverstone Strider Gold Evolution 850w 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply (ST85F-G) £146.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD £74.99
2 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17000C11 2133MHz Dual CHannel Kit (PV38G213C1K) £65.99 (£131.98)
1 x LiteOn IHES112-115 Internal 12x SATA Blu-ray Bulk Combo - Black £61.99
1 x Corsair Hydro H100 Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler *Manufacturer Refurbished Unit - 90 Day Guarantee £43
1 x BitFenix Recon Internet-Connected Fan Controller (Black) £26.99
2 x Corsair Fan, SP120 PWM Low Noise High Pressure Fan 4 pin, Dual Pack (CO-9050012-WW) £25.99 (£51.98)
Total : £1,685.39 (includes shipping : £17.10).

CPU gives you 3 years warranty over 1 year with the OEM
Samsung EVO is quicker and newer than the previous 840's
H100 is refurb but just as good
Added the 780 Lightening as it would be better then running 2x 760's, you alternatively could look at the ATI 7990 @ £530 ish.

Cannot see your total, so made some other adjustments and the saving made there, added into better and more balanced components. 4770k would be great if you have more of a budget.

personally i'd go with the best single card you can get over sli, gives you the option to sli later on if needed.

likewise with the memory, plenty kits with near to same speed, and in some cases faster for less, also consider the 2x8gb kits over 4x4gb if you think you need 16gb, worth bearing in mind the more sticks you have it can restrict your overclock, but it can vary how much it affects it.

what are the 7 extra fans for ?

That's a lush spec!

cheers guys, I'll add the EVO SSD and retail CPU to my build.

How it looks its nearly as important to me as performance. I am slightly OCD so it has to look good :D

Not planning to overclock just yet, though I definately want the capability down the line (dont wanna run before I can walk!)

The fans are to replace the stock fans, like I said, OCD so they all have to match!

2 x intake behind front cover, 2 x intake on HDD cages, 1 x exhaust at top of case (BeQuiet! fans)

2 x SP120's for the H100i

Thanks, was a great window shopping moment.

@OP - Budget?

There isnt one really, I'll be buying the bits on a weekly basis, but ideally 2k for the components, or there abouts.

Going to go for a triple monitor set up, but I havent done any research into that yet, want to get my rig built first :)

I would make some changes personally in that case, something like this:

Ether may be along to do one of these at some point, expect some Nerd p0rn. ;)

thanks for your input, that is a very nice spec, however the colours just dont go! lol

The colours/look were the reason I selected my original components in the first place, would my origial post, but with the PRO SSD and retail CPU be a good gaming rig?

It might not be the best, but looks are important too :)

Going to do some research into GPU's and decide if I should stick with SLI or go for one card (which I think I might do)

OK black and red Nerd P0rn ..... done :)

Can't do the basket myself atm, but if you...

Remove the case, which the OP has;
Go for the MSI Z87-G45 over the UD4H;
Go for a 4670k over the 4770k, as it's for gaming;
and go for 8gb rather than 16gb RAM...

You should be pretty close to having room in a £2000 budget for dual MSI GTX 780 Gaming Editions, right?

hi all, just thought I'd update this thread as my rig is nearly finished now.

Still need a GPU (EVGA GTX 780 Classified) and a monitor (changed my mind about triple monitors, going for 1 x 27" 1440p now)

haven't done any cable management yet, but heres where I am at the minute;

ATByv8f.jpg

Intel Core i7 4770k (not overclocked yet)
16GB Dominator Platinum 1866MHz
Sabertooth Z87 Mobo
H100i CPU cooler
250GB SSD
2TB HDD
Windows 8.1 Pro

Razer Mamba mouse
Ducky Shine III keyboard
Razer Goliathus Extended mouse mat

Nice build, definitely needs some cable management. Personally I'd have gone with an Antec PSU. If you've not bought graphics yet, definitely look at AMD or something similar. You're silly for buying Dommie Plats though ;)

e; Also, I would have bought the Corsair AF's over the Silent Wings mainly because they're cheaper and are fap worthy

Wow, lots of fans... Niiiice

Any reason for 1440p over say a 120/144hz gaming monitor?

I went from a 1200p to a 144hz and i much prefer the 144hz... you mentioned about wanting a triple monitor, how about dual? 144hz and a nice 1080/1200p monitor? one for games n one for everything else?
