How does this look?

Thinking of going with this setup as my current PC is getting on a bit. How does this look? I already have a PSU and case. The PSU is 600w, will that be enough?

Thank you.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,591.01 (includes shipping: £11.10)

this ram is cheaper (half the price) and just as good

SSD looks very expensive i bought 1tb nvme for £80 brand new. albeit not samsung.

3600X is better alternative for gaming and cheaper.

again B450 tomahawk max is better alternative for a motherboard and only £100.

you could build a PC that would perform just as well if not faster for less than half the price if gaming is your main use.

Overpriced board, gpu, ram and ssd.

A Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite is cheaper if you want X570. You could save more with a B450 like the Tomahawk MAX or Gaming Pro Carbon.

Maybe go with the cheaper RTX 2070 and upgrade once the 3000 series releases ?

The Patriot Viper Ram is a lot cheaper for the 3600MHz kit.

Swap out the expensive Samsung for a Western Digital SN550 1TB.

Lots of good advice here. Thank you very much. You can probably tell I have been out of the game for quite a while..!

PSU is an OCZ 600w Modxstream-pro.

Not a bad idea at all, will help with future proofing.

The OCZ 600w Modxstream-pro is quite old now, I am probably better off with a new PSU for peace of mind. Do you know a good one to go with?
Quite a few to pick from
My rough guide is nothing less than
5 years warranty
7 and 10 years warranty are pretty common now

Get the X570 Gigabyte Aorous for £170 recommended above and a 3600X. Then upgrade to the 4000 series when they launch this year.

I wouldn't be spending big money on a CPU especially for gaming. The 3600X is the gaming king. The 4600X is going to be the new gaming king. Pointless trying to future proof just upgrade the cpu and sell the old one on in a years time.

How about this 5700XT as a alternative to Nvidia. (also has RGB and WI-FI in case you need it ;))

The PSU is recommended quiet a lot lately and i think it should be enough for the GPU.

EDIT # 2

Make sure you can fit the GPU in your case. ;)

Good vid about it from HB as well:

Apparently if it's mounted vertically it shouldn't have the same issue but I wouldn't buy it anyway. Asus removing their Asus tax on the product is confirmation it's dodgy.

Good point. I will only be using it for gaming so I don't need to spend mega bucks on power that will just be wasted. Playing at 1080p too.
I will consider the 5700xt. I've heard all about the driver issues but the latest seem to fix it from what I hear.

Honestly with the money saved from the mobo, cpu, ram and SSD. I would be going nvidia and if 1080p I'd be going 1660 super for £200 or a normal 2070 for £370 or a 2060 super for around the same price and in that order.

your £1600 basket has just become

mobo - £100 if B450 or £170 if X570
RAM - £80 crucial ballistix lt sport
cpu - £170 3600X
GPU - 1660 super - £240

£600 plus an SSD which should cost no more than £100 so £700.

£900 saving and the exact same performance with that spare £900 to spend on upgrading the 1660 super to whatever GPU you want.

I would avoid AMD because they run hot and driver issues. Nvidia for GPU they are much cooler and efficient. with less issues. You have saved £900 no point going AMD albeit more value for performance they aren't worth the hassle.

Saved me quite a few pennies indeed. I have been with AMD the past few years (290x) and fancied a change anyway, so I will go with Nvidia this time around. Cheers!
