A royal mail delivery man just turned up with my replacement XA7-192i (After about 2-3 months of waiting) I really wasn't expecting it, as I havent had any contact with Xerox for months now. So now im sat here with two Xerox screens. Will Xerox be collecting the old monitor sometime, and how am i to know when? Or have I all of a sudden got a spare monitor to keep?

lol, thats what i was thinking. I'd like to find out whats happening, but if i contact Xerox, then they might remember that they haven't picked the old one up ;) I think I might box it up and just leave it and see what happens.. But only after some 3 monitor action. 2x19" Xeroxs' and 1x2405 4tw! :D

oh hell yeah! get us some pics and just wait to see what happens regarding the "spare" monitor. You could have course always donate one to me, then we can have 1x XA71-92i and 1x 2405FPW each! :D

why did you get it replaced btw? also, do they appear to be using the same panel?

It was replaced do to the screen burn problem. I posted a thread about it sometime ago. Im not sure if its the same panel, as i haven't checked it yet. Im having problems setting them up at the moment. Ive got 2x6600gt's set up in SLI, with the SLI disabled in the forceware drivers. On the Primary card, I have the 2405 and my tv hooked up, on the secondary card, I have the 2 Xeroxs' hooked up... but I can't for the life of me get the spanning correct. The closest i've had it, was setting the Xeroxs' to vertical span, but that just makes it into one giant monitor. I want to be able to see all three screens (Ignore the tv for the moment) as seperate screens in the forceware drivers, with them set up in dualview(which would be tripple view in this case) is this possible? Something else weird i noticed, is that the old monitor gets detected as "Xerox XA7-19i" whereas the new screen gets detected as "XA7-192i"

Sorry about the naffness of the photos and my room. Im redecorating my room soon, so its all getting stripped down. Futher to the right of my desk is my 29" Samsung tv, which adds another 768 pixels, although ive disabled this as would have got a bad neck from a desktop this big. Now lets hope Xerox forget about the old TFT :D

Is the screenburn/image retention still bad ?

My flatmate had an apple screen a while back and he got image retention immediately with it, but it went after a week.

Those Xerox screens look soo lovely.. I soo want one.. really dont wanna end up regretting it.

@ Baddass. Nope, the viewing angles are identical, looks like they are both TN panels. The horizontal viewing angles are really not bad at all, infact I might even say that they are slighly better than the 2405, but move your head vertically at all, and you can see them go dark very quickly. The colours seems so much better on the 2405. On its own, the Xerox is fine, but when comparing them side by side the Xeroxs' seems to have a slightly green/yellow tint. Fair enough this can be corrected manually, but the 2405 is perfect without any fidling.

@ Nutster. Yeah, the image retention is pretty bad. Tbh, you'd probably not notice is during most daily desktop use, but during games, films and using photoshop its quite noticable and annoying. Ive actually noticed there that the burn has changed slightly, which is probably due to the screen being demoted to the winamp/msn screen so the daily content has changed. In time you might be able to 'flush' the burn out of it, but tbh on a screen costing £300, i don't think its acceptible.

My advice to anyone thiking of buying a monitor soon is... wait and save a while and get a 2405. I got mine second hand for £500, and its perfect. Its amazing for games/films/photoshop and really great for 3D studio max.

Hi

How have you found the new one like for colours in comparison to your old monitor?

I'm asking as the colours on mine don't look as good as they did when I first bought it. I'm also suffering from the image retention problem which is pretty bad. I can see three strong white lines over the top of everything (corresponding to the Opera window)

Hi

Sorry about the late reply - I was waiting to get my digital camera back so that I could film the monitors to try and show the difference. Unfortunately it's not nearly as pronounced on the film then it is on the screens

My monitor is set to Brightness 80%, Contrast 78%. The cheap and cheerful Digimate (on the left) is set to Brightness 40%, Contrast 40% and it's far brighter and clearer
