My '95 Mondeo LX: like a boat. Its not too bad on high speed sweeping bends, it seems quite neutral (some minor rear end unsettling to match the understeer) but plenty of body roll due to worn suspension. Sharp corners at lower speeds I have to be gentle with the steering otherwise the front lets go surprisingly easily. Plenty of feedback from brakes (no overservoed pedal here!) and heavy-ish steering with lots of feel to it. Pedals are in a perfect position and all level with eachother for heel & toe.
I can tell that the basic setup and chassis design is OK, but let down by rubbish tyres and 280,000 mile old suspension. It is a nice and comfy ride though.
On my other Mondeo, an Si 2.0, the handling is fantastic for an old large car - even with its at-the-legal-limit unbranded tyres the handling is excellent with little body roll, much more grip than the above, and a twitchy rear end which makes for some exciting cornering. Very little understeer and some lift off oversteer if you are hamfisted on a wet road. Unfortunately the suspension is way too firm to give a comfortable ride, and the steering and pedal setup (feel and position) are not half as good as the 1.8. The brakes are overservoed, and the pedals sit high up way above the accelerator, making heel & toe impossible for me.
