How Duke Nukem Forever development ran all outta gum...

Here's an example of how much a perfectionist Broussard is. In 2003 he personally coded a small patch for DN3D so it would work on modern CPU's/Sound cards

That's rare for the top man to get that involved in something especially a 7 year old game at that time

How did he code a patch for a game that wasn't even near complete?

I reckon they just plain never saw Quake coming.

Well they did, theres Duke's famous quote referring to it: "I aint afraid of no Quake!" but maybe they weren't bothered because it wasnt a game that strived to be perfect or take itself seriously, thats why I cant believe what they were playing at with DNF. They could've knocked something up within the last 2 years and it would've still sold like hot cakes. Anything is better than nothing. They were already a laughing stock with their reputation in ruins. What did they have to lose?

If they were close this last time to completion then whoever is responsible for it now owe it to those poor loyal fans to release something...anything, just so all the damned speculation can end if nothing else, but because of the hype and colossal expectation surrounding it, I fear that no company will want to have anything to do with it.

Disagree, take Soldeer of Fortune 3, I waited years and it was the worst game I have played. It ruined the series and wrecked my memory of SOF.

Duke should be left to the history books. I will remember him fondly.

That was developed as a budget title though by another company. Why that happened ive no idea, part 1 and 2 were pretty sucessful.

That being said i doubt the much overhyped raven software coulda made it any better, especially considering the 2009 wolfenstein pos they just released.

Aye, did look pretty good, plenty of peope saying it didn;t look "all that" but the guy that had played it really seemed thrilled about it in that audio.

Im more suprised a build of the game hasn't leaked since that video did.

Thing is though if it had came out no matter how good it was id imagine people wouldn't consider it enough due to the wait.

Graphically maybe not but the gameplay from the video looked like it could be fun. Granted I'm easily pleased. :p

That leaked footage was showing off animations and scripted scenes mainly, and not much in the way of gameplay or AI, which is a shame. Would've liked to have seen more.

I think graphically it looked rpetty nice, plus we really don't know how much of the stuff in the video was final, could be a ton of placeholder art in it.

No it is but for 10 years you'd expect atleast on par with Crysis perhaps! :)

Edit - On further thought, my comment was silly. :p
