How early to get to a gig?

Hey all,

I'm going to O2 Shepherds Bush Empire tonight for a gig, it starts at 7pm...

How early should I get there do you think? I want to a good spot and to be fairly close to the stage

Wow, travelling from Essex to West London is not going to be a fun journey at rush hour. Maybe try to get to W London for about 5pm ish (to avoid most of the rush hour traffic) and take your time over a nice meal at a restaurant close to the Empire?

/edit I'd take the M25, and not drive through Central London if poss.

Travelling isn't an issue. I have a season ticket for work so I can get to Fenchurch St at no cost then I'll just walk round to London bridge and train from there so I'm not worried about rush hour!

I'm thinking about getting there for 6 (would mean leaving mine around 5) then abusing friends via my phone until it starts? Or should I get there earlier?

More than likely the band won't be on until between 9 and 10 so turn up at 8 and you'll be fine. Can't imagine it being hard to batter your way to the front at a Boyce Avenue gig (assuming from google that's who it is you're seeing).

8pm is fine. You 'll still catch 2 support acts. Your main event wont be on until 9.30 or so.

Don't think I've ever walked into a gig before half 8. The support acts are always worth missing.

The doors open at 19:00 and show starts at 20:00. Get in the queue about an hour before the doors open. Do you think there will be a large queue for Boyce Avenue?

Well I follow them on Facebook etc and they've said the show for tonight is completely sold out.

Right I've just rung to find out and the woman on the phone (who sounded hot) said that Tyler Ward (I had no idea he was playing and I'm a fan so that'll be good) is on from 8-8.30 then BA on at 9. Doors open at 7.

I'll get there for 7 I reckon, by the time I queue up, 'nudge' my way to the front whilst grabbing a beer it'll be about time for it all to start

I'm currently letting the filler on the walls dry so I can then give them a second base coat before applying colour, it's really not that exciting...it's a bit like watching pai...wait a minute.
