The rents keep moaning at me managing to land jobs miles and miles away from wherever I happen to be living at the time. I've got a prospective new job lined up which will result in me doing two 28 mile journeys - one there once back. Is it really that bad?

In my previous job I drove 24 there and 24 back, taking between 30-45 minutes, that was avoiding all of the blackspots on the M6 though.

Are they bothered about the distance, time or cost?

I commute 15 miles, it takes an hour and ten and it costs me about £10 a day.

I'd say yours wasn't too bad.

I think they are just dropping a hint for you to move out.

7.1 miles each way..

But would be willing to do way more if the money was right. Obviously the less travelling the better. But you have to go where the job opportunities/money is.

30miles each way nearly exactly. It takes me about 40 Minutes and I get to drive through some awesome country-side, so no complaints at all!

Can cost a bit in petrol, but from what I'll eventually get out of the job it's worth it. :)

28 each way ain't too bad!
i now do 16 miles each way
before that 32 each way for 8 years
before that 85 each way which was a real pain!

23 miles.

25 mins on way to work, 45 return.

Doesn't seem all that much to me.

I go 0.625 miles to school. Usually takes me 10 minutes by bike when I'm with friends, or 7 minutes if I'm not. 3 minutes or so by car if it's raining.

.... heh I haven't lived with them for the past 4-5 years. Its more to do with the length of my working day and cost I think. My Dad was lucky enough to work 10 miles down the road all of his life.

Currently its about 7-10miles each way, (which consists of about 15mins on a tram and then 6mins on the train).

Used to be Andover (Hants) to Reading which is two 25min train journeys with a change in Basingstoke ... which was bad due to short connections and poor train services ...

My car journey to work is about 5 miles, takes about 10 minutes.

Although I get to wave at the massive queues on the B5030 going to Alton Towers as I drive in the opposite direction both to and from work :p

I'll be getting the train to London Paddington from Reading every morning, so that coupled with tube's, walking etc will be about an hour, minimum. :(
