how far is too far to commute?

Mine's about 17 miles each way, takes 30-35 minutes traffic depending. In the early days it was depressing, but I've started leaving and arriving to work earlier (and going home earlier) and it makes it much more pleasant, as the other person said above it's almost like you're driving automatically half the time, struggling to remember lights/junctions etc :D

It's only less bearable when they're digging up for the road for wahtever pointless reason :(

Currently I'm commuting 1 hr on the tube each way, so 10 hrs per week.

I'll be moving to Nottingham, working in London, so it will be 2.5 hrs each way!

However...

1. I'll be working at home 3 days a week
2. When in London I'll be staying over a night.

Therefore technically I'll be moving to Nottingham and doing less commuting :D

It's all on the train, so as long as I get a seat, it will be sleeping/reading time.

I used to do 80miles each way (800 a week for work) and it cost me roughly £10 per every 100 miles I travelled, and I never hung around. Used to take me 1h15 there and approx. 1h30 home. I used to travel at 6am to avoid major traffic on the M3.

My average speed in a week used to be 62mph at 52mpg.

I commute from Rotherham to London daily. That's between 5 and 6 hours travelling per day.

I've done this for a year, but won't be as of November thank goodness.

I commute half the week at a time around 1:20 each way,and its a nightmare, it's not too bad during the summer months, but in winter it's totally depressing.

Once, a while ago, I worked at Reading. Commuting there took 2.5 hours and back was normally 3 hours. Add in a 10 hour day and you can see why I only did it for 2 and a half weeks.
My day became, get up, goto work, come home, eat, then sleep right afterwards. The money was good, but the Boss thought i was slacking, since the others managed to do 12+ hour days. The fool didnt care that I had a huge journey to and from work. Ended up telling him to eff off and walked out. Thats the only time Ive been rude to an employer, proabably had something to do with the lack of sleep. I lost a weeks pay (I was a contractor), but you cant put a price on your sanity.

Blimey...How far up the M3 were you going and on which stretch? Can't blame you for leaving early.

What car did you do it in? Thats a lot unless you have some luxo barge:(
