How far would you go!

Picked up the Manta from glasgow after seeing a few pics on the bay.
Got a flight up there, then a circa 500 mile return drive.
Distance isn't an option for the right car.

Depends on the car, if it was something common like a Focus then I'd travel 50 miles max. If it was something rarer, distance doesn't matter.

My current car was a 550 mile round trip. I didn't have much luck finding what I wanted locally.

It can be a bit off putting if it's miles away, but 300 mile round trip will take 5-6 hours? I don't know what the difference in price is that you've seen, but it just comes down to whether the saving is worth the £50 of fuel and 5 hours of your time.

I'm in the minority and would have have to think very carefully before searching more than 40 miles or so, remembering that is radius not traveling distance.

The reason being that I'm very fussy and get hugely annoyed at the number of "mint" cars that end up being anything but. My Octavia was about 45 miles as the crow flies from me about 60 miles each way in reality. Before going down I grilled the guy over the phone and luckily he was as anal about cars as me :p

If I could guarentee the condition then distance would be no issue what so ever.

I dont understand, how have you chosen which car to buy without ever having driven it or any of its rivals

Well as i already own a Focus, handling wise there wont be much difference, i like the Focus, just want a bigger engine, that and the look and sound of the ST appeals to me greatly.
