Not how fast can you read, but when in bed for example with your book in front of you, how fast do you read? Below is a link for a test.

I read at 150 words per minute, I find I enjoy the experience of reading much more at this relaxed rate. You?

Is this really the right sub-forum though?

Yes. It's about how fast you read books, this us the book subform.

I find it quite incredible some of you are reading 4 times as fast as me. When I read books I like to say it out loud in my head as if it were an audio book. All the details really sink in my noggin then.

652wpm according to that. If I speed read and skim I can take probably 70% of the detail out a lot quicker than that too. I've read heavily since I was a young child :)

I guess so

I've been a regular avid reader since early primary school. The article we had to read said speed is tied to experience, which makes sense for why I'm quite a quick reader.
My skim reading is about twice as fast, but thats not reading for comprehension.

354, but it could be higher as I had to continually re-read the word "sprinter" as I thought it said "sphincter" and it confused the hell outta me!

You should take the comprehension test underneath too, as I can read it at a blistering pace, but I would not take any of it in. I read it to the point of complete comprehension only at 250wpm and got 100% correct.

240 wpm, oral reader. You may rapidly and significantly progress by suppressing subvocalization. FReader software is perfect for you.
That's right for me, I do read things out loud in my head as if I speaking them.

450, though I would imagine it wouldbe much faster if it was not on my iPhone, with one eye closed! (I have a sore eye). That was with 100% comprehension.

I have always considered myself to be a fairly fast reader. If I ever have to share a document with anyone it is usually apparant that they are reading much mOre slowly. My wife for example seems to read about half as fast as me. Also when I do read novels I find I tend to blast through them pretty quick. I rot buy papers much these days, but again I would tend to read a broadsheet cover to back fairly quickly.

I did the comprehension test as soon as it was mentioned and got 82 without rereading it, and having not read the text for a good 10 mins. I have an good short term memory. Ask me tomorrow and it'll all be gone :p
