How good is Apple Care?

My original iPod Touch battery is playing up and seems to lose charge over the span of a day. Now I could turn the brightness down, set idle time and turn off wifi when I'm not using it but I don't think I should have to. I certainly didn't have to a few months ago.

The Apple Store Regent Street is round the corner from where I work, so I was planning on visiting them at lunch time or something.

My question is, how likely is it that Apple will help me out with this sort of thing? The website says that the 12 month warranty is due to expire on 2nd December so I guess it's now or never. Would I need to bring the original packaging or just the iPod itself?

Cheers.

I'm more than impressed with AppleCare. They've just replaced my MBP screen in less than a week, most of that time was spent waiting for the part. I would have thought they will cover a dodgy battery.

On the subject of dodgy batteries, my MacBook Pro battery was replaced no questions asked when it was failing. It was just over a year old too and AppleCare covered it.

You should be fine OP.

As Justin said above my Mac Book Pro battery recently decided to play up, in system profile it would say 'Check Battery' i rang apple care and i had a replacement in 2 days :) no questions asked. So i am very pleased with them, Also the people on the phone are always happy which is good to.

My power adapter died last week, phoned apple and they replaced it no questions asked within 4 days. Had to send the fault pack back in a pre-paid royal mail box.

I bought Apple care with HE discount for £47, it looks like its going to be an investment, really impressed with apple service.

My iBook failed three times - each time was a hassle to get it sorted, but the problem was ludicrously intermittent. They replaced it with a Macbook after the third failure within a year. AppleCare - get it.

Well, I was booked in for 3:40 but wasn't seen until 4:00. The junior technician plugged my iPod in but his diagnostics software couldn't help him as it wasn't displaying any usage. I had upgraded my firmware because it wouldn't be very good turning up with CFW. He asked a colleague what to do and he was told to swap it out.

They gave me a like for like swap so I am now in possession of a brand new 1G iPod Touch.

Good service but I'm not paying 40 quid for a year worth of cover.

A 1G, they must keep them in stock for that reason.
