How good is OpenOffice these days?

use oxygen open office professional http://sourceforge.net/projects/ooop/

i prefer it over the normal one.

Well I know it can open .docx files but not sure on how good it is at retaining the format/layout of the document.

i opened one the other day, but I thought it did not work... so I assumed it was a doc saved as docx... ill have to test it a bit more later..

Think it was just added in OO v3.2 but it definitely works which helps when passing documents between ubuntu and vista

From my experience, Microsoft office is a lot better.

OpenOffice is like Microsoft office 2000, but it is cross-platform.
