How good is superhub as a router compare to routers?

I still have my dlink 655 in the storage.

Will i get better performance if i use it as a router instead?

If your using wireless then use the superhub in modem mode and use your Dlink 655 as the router.If your not bothered about using wireless then just use the superhub on it's own, the superhub is fine a modem/router but not so good as a wireless router.

Wireless is terrible on the superhub. My superhub would crash if I have too many wireless devices are connected it.

Picked up a asus rt-n15 for dirt cheap and using the superhub as modem. Wireless is running flawlessly, haven't a crash since using the asus.

its really not as terrible as many people describe its not great either.

i only have 2 wireless devices on mine and its ok.

Sure if you have your own router why not just try it for a few days and decide yourself.

A lot of the superhub bugs were fixed with the R30 firmware, what people don't realise is that the upgrade to 100Mb/120Mb brings a whole new ball game of wether your third party router will be fast enough to pipe the WAN to LAN traffic.

That is with the assumption that the VM network can even supply 100/120 mbit to our routers in the first place though

As a router it's fine, as a wireless access point, it could be better, the signal is nowhere near as good as my old dg834gt.

Very true, however as much as we here about people with bad connections, there are many many more with connections that work at full speed at all times

As long as the majority are ok, that's all that matters.

why??
i have about 5 wireless devices, 4 LAN devices and it has no problems.

I've found the wireless coverage to not be that great, apart from that it works fine.

i found the wireless coverage to be great. i get a full signal all around my house.

i admit my house is only a bungalow but it's still good.

It is fine in a bungalow or 2 bed house for example, but when you go further than one room away it dropped out in ours. I just put in a Linksys WRT160N in and it covers further and the signal is stronger where it was weak before.

I use a Virgin Superhub and the WiFi really isn't great - I'm now looking for a half decent wireless access point to connect to it. Any recommendations?

Access points seem to cost a lot, so I went for the Linksys above and just turned off DHCP.

And still use the superhub in router mode with the wireless turned off. I was just using a b/g, but since I got an 'n' laptop, I decided to upgrade. I still keep the b/g running as my phone, wii etc are connected to it.

Sorry to hijack you thread OP.

With the superhub can you use another router and get rid of the superhub altogether ?.

My PC is wired, while the Mrs is using wireless.
